Annie may look like an unassuming cute chonk, but don’t be fooled! She’s Agent Annie, undercover mutt spy out to steal your heart! Her secret weapons: her big soulful eyes, adorable trot, and happily wagging nubbin of a tail. You’ll be powerless to resist! Annie really loves other dogs so much. She also finds comfort in snuggling up with another mutt. We want Annie to go to a home with other fur siblings!

HERE’S WHAT HER FOSTER HAS TO SAY!

Annie is a gentle angel – like a cross between a dairy cow, a medicine ball, and teddy bear. She is doting without being clingy – she wants to be near you, but doesn’t necessarily need attention, just to be close. She’s been a perfect work from home companion during the weekday and perfect yard work and garage tidying companion during the weekend.

She pretty much sleeps all day. Thanksgiving was the longest I’ve seen her awake because she spent two straight hours staring wide-eyed into the kitchen, beholding the miracle of So Much Food! She absolutely crashed into her bed about halfway through dinner (an amateur move if you’re trying to get leftovers, but since she’s on a diet anyways, all was well that ended well :))

She hasn’t barked once in the week-plus we’ve had her. She’s great in the car (slept in my lap our two-hours-in-traffic drive home from picking her up at HQ, slept in the backseat on the drive to my parents’ for Thanksgiving). She’s great with other dogs (my parents have a dog with a Napoleonic complex who tries to attack new dogs when she first meets them, and even she was like hey, this dog is cool, she is welcome to stay for dinner). She’s great with kids, too!

Her foster family in Fresno had three preschool/elementary aged children who apparently loved her (and she loved back). She was completely unfazed by my twin 1.5 year old nephews – they’re dog savvy but still pure chaos and she was able to navigate around them no problem.

She’s a great sleeper (approx. 9:30-6:30 at our house). She takes her meds (one for her thyroid and one for pain management) without issue in a pill pocket. She’s (as you might guess) a great eater. She doesn’t love that she’s on a diet and we can’t shower her with the treats she deserves (because she deserves to be healthy and fit more :)), but she is very understanding – no whining or demanding of food.

The one thing we’re working on is reinforcing her potty training. I suspect her weight issue is fairly recent and she’s not entirely comfortable in her own body. But since we just started taking her out and placing her directly on the lawn every couple hours and right before bed, we haven’t had any accidents. She did have some tummy troubles when we first brought her home, but now that her meds and diet are steady, she’s been fine.

I strongly suspect there’s a slightly more active Annie inside all of her extra Annie right now. She’s already twice as fast at following us around as she was when we first brought her home (which, mind you, isn’t Usain Bolt stuff). She already has a bit more neck, so hopefully her weight loss is on track. I think she’ll be a dog who likes to go on strolls but is also happy just chilling in the backyard or at your feet while you watch TV. And I think even when she’s a little more capable of activity, she will still have her fundamental gentleness. She also has a perfect little nubbin tail and although her wiggle is absolutely perfect at her current size, I’m confident it will still be adorbs even when she’s a bit trimmer.
