Join us for a new monthly group meeting, led by Licensed Therapist Laura Goodspeed, MFT. We’ll explore the stressful and often disturbing aspects of rescue work, the challenges of foster and fospice care, as well as tools for avoiding burnout and overwhelm.

We’d like to offer a different topic each month, so your suggested topics are welcomed!

November’s Topic: Vicarious Trauma and Compassion Fatigue

Individuals who work with human trauma victims have become increasingly aware of the dangers of compassion fatigue: a deadening of emotional response resulting from prolonged and repeated exposure to acts of violence, cruelty or suffering. But what about those who work with mistreated, abused and abandoned animals? Do you know the symptoms of Compassion Fatigue? And more importantly, do you know how to avoid it, or what to do if you start exhibiting the warning signs? Join us for an informal discussion/presentation on the signs, prevention and alleviation of Compassion Fatigue.

For more information on this type of support group read Laura’s article on Muttville’s blog!
