Muttville is excited to announce the continuation of our training seminar series, led by our volunteer staff of trainers in the Bay Area. Each month, we’ll hold a seminar focusing on a relevant topic for dog owners, adopters and fosters. Back by popular demand this month’s topic is Special Needs and Fospice Dog.

Topic summary:

Adopting and fostering Muttville dogs often means taking on a unique set of responsibilities. Blind, deaf and physically disabled dogs may interact with their guardians and their environment differently from able-bodied dogs but, with a little extra consideration, they can still lead rich, satisfying lives. The same is true for caring for fospice dogs, a challenge that extends to the emotional health of the fospice guardian. This seminar will provide guidance to adopters, foster families and volunteers that want to understand and support special needs dogs to the best of their ability. We will also discuss how to protect yourself when taking on a fospice dog and how to help a fospice dog through its final days.
