Muttville Senior Dog Rescue
Dear Friend of Muttville,,

I’m about to tell you a story about Gilda, a little shih tzu. But don’t worry – there’s a happy ending!

Gilda was wandering around Fort Funston in San Francisco, alone, exhausted, terrified. When a Good Samaritan brought her to Animal Care and Control, it was discovered she had been there before. The owner was contacted but didn’t want her.

Gilda had been dumped.

She was covered with mats, has trouble seeing, and is around 12 years old. ACC knew that at their shelter, with Gilda competing against puppies, her best chance, her only chance, was Muttville. “This is a wonderful dog. She’s been through so much. Can you take her?”

Thanks to you, we said yes.

Every day, every HOUR, we get these urgent messages.

“Emergency! Owner passed away and left two very sweet senior poodle mixes –
     no chance at our shelter.”

     “On the euthanasia list! PLEASE!”

We get dozens, sometimes hundreds, of these desperate requests every day, pleading for the lives of seniors scheduled for euthanasia.

That’s why we rely on our Mutt Guardians.

Muttville counts on these monthly sustaining donors to provide the regular, reliable support that allows us to rescue dogs like Gilda in desperate trouble.

One intake coordinator who visits municipal shelters all around the Bay Area tells us, “Because of Muttville, there is hope for senior dogs. These dogs now find families instead of being euthanized had they remained in place. Muttville has truly changed the way people look at senior dogs.”

You make that happen. Every day.

Thanks to you, Muttville said yes to Gilda.
After she arrived, we discovered her vision problem was due to cataracts and eye infections. The mats and flea bites had given her skin and ear infections. And she had never been spayed, which gives rise to even more medical problems.

Gilda got her ear and eye meds. She got a trim to get rid of the mats, she’s begun her treatment with medicated shampoo, and she’s on her way to getting spayed, getting her terrible teeth taken care of, and getting possibly the first real grooming of her life.

That’s thanks to you.

There are so many more dogs like Gilda. I’m asking you become a Mutt Guardian and save their lives.
