Double your impact with our match! Without you, senior dogs like Noonan don’t have a chance.
Dear Friend of Muttville,
I’ve heard some people describe getting older as becoming invisible. That happens to dogs, too. They get older and they get overlooked.
At some shelters, they’re not even offered for adoption, because it’s assumed that no one will want them. They’re ignored, and then they’re euthanized.
As a shelter volunteer, I used to see glorious senior dogs fade away, shut down, become invisible, and then die. That’s why I founded Muttville – to show the world that senior dogs are worth saving and worth cherishing.
Please save the lives of senior dogs like Noonan!
Noonan is a chihuahua mix, probably 11 years old, picked up wandering around the central valley. He was so skinny and banged up that he’d probably been on his own for a while. Nobody had noticed him.
Things were busy at the shelter, so Noonan sat in his kennel, month after month. This old, ordinary little tan dog with big ears just sat there, silently waiting.
He was too old.
Noonan was on his way to euthanasia when a shelter worker had a thought. She wondered if Muttville would take him.
Muttville said YES!
Noonan’s journey was far from over. When dogs arrive at Muttville, they get medical exams and care. Our vet team made a shocking discovery. Noonan not only had a mouthful of rotten teeth, but he had a broken jaw and a nasal fistula – basically, a big, excruciatingly painful hole between his jaw and nasal cavity, probably from injury and neglect. The dentist said his mouth was the worst he had ever seen.
There he’d been, in terrible pain, quietly suffering for months. Just waiting for somebody to notice him.
He’d been invisible. But not to Muttville!
Noonan got oral surgery, he got lots of love, and he began the long process of recuperation. He is still waiting for his forever home, but his foster family reports that he is happier by the day. He has revealed himself to be a friendly, gentle, loving soul. He relishes his car rides, his dinner, and especially his pats.
If you don’t act, senior dogs like Noonan will die. Please give generously.
Thanks to a generous donor, your gift will have DOUBLE the impact!
