Double your impact with our match! Without you, senior dogs like Fuzz don't have a chance.
Dear friend of the old mutts,

Is this the most fragile dog you've ever seen?

He was for me. He had been surrendered to a Central Valley shelter by someone who claimed to be his guardian, but he had been severely neglected, maybe for his whole life. He had lost much of his hair, was covered in scabs, and was so skinny you could see every vertebra. He seemed blind.

The shelter was overwhelmed. They knew an 11-year-old mutt didn’t have a chance there. Used to be that in overcrowded shelters, an old dog – let alone one in this kind of shape – would be automatically euthanized.

Was this dog too old to care about?

Muttville was created to give a second chance to dogs like these, dogs who are otherwise overlooked simply because they're old. Muttville rescues them, gives them the care they need, and finds them loving forever homes.

The shelter called Muttville. And Muttville said YES!

When he arrived, it was clear this was an emergency. His blood sugar was almost impossibly low. He was minutes away from death. Surviving this far was as miraculous as walking on the moon.  We named him Fuzz Aldrin.

We fed him little pieces of chicken every hour or so to try to elevate his blood sugar, and the way he’d lean into you and wrap his paws around you, it was clear he was still eager to get and give love. But it was still was touch and go. He was one sick pup.

MEANWHILE…a woman named Roxane was laid up in the hospital, passing the time online.  She spotted a dog on Muttville’s Instagram account that made her swoon. He wasn’t listed on the website, so she called to ask about him. We told her he wasn't available yet because his health was precarious and his prognosis
uncertain. “That’s okay,” she said. “We’ll help each other recover!”

Fuzz went to the first loving home of his life.

And what a home! The best care you can imagine, walks by the beach and smooches all day long. Now Fuzz not only has a soft silky coat and some meat on his bones, but he’s even gotten a little sight back. Roxane recently wrote to us.

“I can’t thank Muttville enough for seeing the light and life left in this little man and for giving him the chance at a great life, no matter how long. I cherish every day we have together."

Your donation makes Fuzz's new life possible and helps other senior dogs in desperate need.  Thanks to a generous donor,  your gift will have DOUBLE the impact.

EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR DONATED until DECEMBER 11, 2019 will be matched.
