Baby Ruth and Piano Man are a darling dachshund duo, so happy to be out of the shelter. Not much was right in their world when they first came to Muttville.
Baby Ruth was an unhappy mess – multiple mammary tumors, painful hernia, abcessed teeth, runny eyes/nose… She bravely endured two rounds of surgery and is now a healthy little girl. Piano Man has a small heart murmor and has the occasional seizure. There may come a time where he needs medication for this.
While the great indoors is their favorite place to be, both enjoy exploring the sights and sounds outside.
Piano Man has had a hard life. He was treated with a heavy hand and is quite the apprehensive fellow. Though he is now safe and much-loved, he continues to struggle with fear-based issues. He is capable of bonding with and trusting his person, it just takes time and patience. Once you do work his way into his heart, it is golden.
Baby Ruth has emerged as the spunky, fun-loving one. She is still frightened of new situations but loves all and gives sloppy toothless kisses any chance she gets.
Since neither one of them had much experience with living a normal dog life in a home, they may not have the best manners in the world. On occasion, they forget the difference between floor vs. table… inside vs. outside… etc. With these two sweeties, this just has to be accepted as part of their charm!
Both adore the many doggies they live with – outside the home, though, Piano Man tends to not love all dogs he meets.
We think they are about 8 and 10, they get around great.
They love when you are home with them but are ok alone, too. They will just cozy up under their blankets – either in their comfy crate or on a soft dog bed. Or under your covers.
Since they are such a bonded pair, we are only adopting them out together. They will be happiest in a gentle, mellow home with no cats. Ideally, with an experiencd dog lover. Piano Man cannot be around children of any age, at home or out on the town.
These two babies are in need of a special forever home – one where their past is understood and they are loved just the way they are.
